For this blog post, let's start off with a quiz about Japanese Soft Card Sleeves. Are Japanese Soft Card Sleeves for:
A) Japanese language Pokémon cards
B) TCGs from Japan like Dragon Ball Fusion Word, One Piece, and Weiss Schwartz
C) TCGs like Yu-Gi-Oh! that use Japanese sized or mini sized cards
If you answered C you are correct and you don't need to read this blog post! But for everyone else who got this wrong, consider this mandatory reading.
So what's the difference between Soft Card Sleeves and Japanese Soft Card Sleeves? The answer is very simple, it comes down to size. Palms Off Gaming Soft Cards Sleeves which are great for Pokemon (regardless of the language), Magic, One Piece, and more are 65 x 91mm. These are consider “standard size” for trading cards. Whereas our Japanese Soft Card Sleeves which pair perfectly with Yu-Gi-Oh! are 62 x 89mm.
So why the confusing name? Again, that's another simple answer: it's because that's what the rest of the industry calls this size of card. Regardless of which competitor you look at, they all use “Japanese Size” to differentiate between these smaller sleeves and their standard sized counterparts. We decided to conform to this naming convention to avoid any confusion from those who may be considering Palms Off Gaming branded Soft Card Sleeves for their next master set or most recent sweet pulls.
At this point, many of you may be asking if there are any other differences with our Soft Card Sleeve offerings, specifically relating to quality of construction and materials. A fair question to ask, but one we are happy to meet with a no! There are no quality or material difference between our Standard and Japanese Size Soft Card Sleeves – if you loved POG Standard Soft Card Sleeves, you'll love POG Japanese Size Soft Card Sleeves!
