So what’s the deal with double sleeving? Do you need to do it? All these questions and more will be answered for you in this blog post!
For long time players, you are more than aware of the advantages and disadvantages of multi sleeving your deck. However for newer players, you might be confused as to why you might want to double sleeve - and that’s okay! We’re here to help clear things up for you - read on!
So what’s wrong with just running a single layer of protection for your cards? Answer, nothing really. However, if you intend to play with your cards, deck sleeves are the bare minimum to protect them. Besides the protective factor of deck sleeves, they also make shuffling and general handling of cards easier due the texture on the rear surface. Understanding this, one of our main goals with our range of Blackout Deck Sleeves was to create a rear surface that not only feels nice, but improves your shuffling experience!
But what’s all this noise around double sleeving about? Honestly, a lot of it is personal opinion and speaking from my own, I prefer to double sleeve my decks - especially commander decks. Mash shuffling 100 cards at a time can be tricky, especially for newer players, but I’ve found double sleeving helps to mitigate damage from poor mash shuffle technique…. Like my own…
However, one truly objective positive is that your cards will better withstand spills. Obviously the best way to avoid spills would be not to allow liquid at the tables, but if there’s a will there's a way.
So what’s the best method to double sleeve your cards? While there is no strictly correct way to double sleeve your deck, my personal preference is as so:
First, insert your card into the Palms Off Gaming Inner Sleeve top first so the opening of the sleeve is facing down towards the bottom of the card. Sometimes due to the slim fit design of the Inner Sleeve you can experience some resistance, if that occurs feel free to push the card into the Inner Sleeve by using a flat, clean, non-slip surface like a playmat on a table. Just be careful not to bend your cards doing this! For this technique, patience is the key.

An important Palms Off Gaming difference is the fit of our sleeves. Unlike some of our competitors, our sleeves run true-to-size offering the closest possible fit. Creating a nice, tidy look to your deck.
